Taking Bugleweed for Hyperthyroidism

Taking Bugleweed for Hyperthyroidism

Though not scientifically proven

Bugleweed for hyperthyroidism – Though not scientifically proven and not well backed up by research papers, there is a historical belief that taking is a very good ancient and time tested option.

This particular herb that has been in use for many centuries contains a component known as lithospermic acid. This particular acid has been known to decrease the activity levels of various hormones, including the highly sensitive T3 and T4 hormones.

Before we understand the reasons why many people go in for bugleweed for hyperthyroidism

It would be advisable for us to have a better understanding as to why bugleweed is needed for patients, suffering from hyperthyroidism. When a person suffers from hyperthyroidism, he or she sees an increased level of hormone secretion from the thyroid gland.

Though the thyroid gland

Though the thyroid gland secretes a number of hormones, it is T3 and T4 hormones, which could both be a boon and a bane. T3 hormone helps our cells to absorb oxygen and nutrients properly.

On the other hand, T3 hormones cannot function properly without the help of T4. Hence, both these hormones are supplementary and complementary to one another.

When a person suffers from hyperthyroidism, the two hormones start secreting in excess. This leads to a lot of problems including increased metabolism levels, palpitations, rapid heart attacks, diarrhoea, dryness of the mouth and a host of other problems.

In such situations, it has been found that bugleweed for hyperthyroidism is a wonderful natural alternative because it directly works at the thyroid gland levels and controls the secretion of various hormones.

There are, however, two schools of thought as far as effectiveness in taking bugleweed for hyperthyroidism are concerned.

Controlling hyperthyroidism

While one school of traditional people have full faith and belief in this traditional approach to controlling hyperthyroidism, there are another group of people who feel that at best-taking bugleweed for hyperthyroidism gives only temporary symptomatic relief.

The second school of thought believes that it does not attack the root of the problem but works only on the superficial level! Despite negative publicity, many people have found very good relief from this problem when they have tried bugleweed for hyperthyroidism.

However, it is important to find out the root cause for the thyroid function going haywire and awry.

For example, if a person is suffering from hyperthyroidism due to some genetic reasons, that specific problem has to be addressed. In such cases, taking bugleweed for hyperthyroidism would at best work on the asymptomatic platform.

There are many patients who have done away with beta-blockers or significantly reduced the dosage of the same because they have gone in for bugleweed for hyperthyroidism after identifying the root cause for the same.

There are also some fears regarding the side effects that many patients suffer from when they go in for bugleweed for hyperthyroidism. While many patients have found real benefits using this weed, for many, there have been some not so simple side effects which they had to handle.

Patients who were on beta blockers and who were also on bugleweed for hyperthyroidism found that they suffered from withdrawal symptoms, the moment they stopped it. The palpitation and heart rate suddenly started spiking up because they had all on a sudden stopped taking bugleweed.

Hence, it is very important that the patients have a clear understanding of the possible side effects of taking bugleweed for hyperthyroidism.

Withdrawal symptoms or even have the slightest

If you are afraid of such withdrawal symptoms or even have the slightest pointers towards it, you should immediately get in touch with your physician or health care provider. He or she will be the right person to suggest remedial action to overcome such problems.
